iLuv is hoping to ‘shake up’ the iPhone dock market, and used CES 2012 to show off with its new Vibro II alarm system. As well as a more conventional speaker setup the Vibro II has has a ‘shaker’ unit that sits on your bed and vibrates when the alarm goes off. iLuv told us that the product is also creating interest among hearing-impaired wasn’t originally designed with this market in mind. As well as having music and vibration kick in at once, you can chose to have only the Shaker activate when the attached iPhone hits its alarm time, or only the speakers. The Vibro II also has a TimeSync feature that automatically resets the time on the iPhone. The model we saw was a prototype, but iLuv assure us it will hit the market in the near future.
iLuv vibro II alarm clock dock,
Ah the snooze button: my favourite feature on any alarm clock. But also my worst enemy. It creates the illusion that i was somehow mistaken when i set the alarm; that it’s possible to have just…another…five…minutes’ kip and still get to work on time. The buzzer on this new iPhone dock is the rude awakening i need. It incorporates a villainous “shaker” pad to put under your pillow, which vibrates in time with the beeps-or your choice of thrash metal anthem from your music collection. Sleep, be gone!
iLuv’s latest cases come with a distinct sixties hippy flavour. Psychedelic patterns and glow in the dark finishes- if nothing else they’re certainly going to make a lasting impression on anyone who catches a glance of your iPhone. But it’s not all about the looks with iLuv. The build quality of their cases certainly lives up to the high standards set by the aesthetics. 4 out of 5 stars.
